May 2022 Issue No images? Click here Welcome to the May Teach Plus Colorado Newsletter! I hope this finds you well with the school year ending soon. As I finish up my 26th, and final year of teaching, I am filled with gratitude for all of my colleagues who have helped me become the educator I am today. I am also grateful for the students whom I have had the privilege to teach over the past two decades. Students who challenged me to be the best human I could possibly be. They filled me with humility and a thirst for continuous improvement. Thank you all! Teach Plus Executive Director Mark Sass (center w/sunglasses) joined EDs from across the country in Charleston last week. Kira Orange Jones (fourth from the right) led the team through a series of sessions re-centering our work as a national teacher leadership organization. Legislative TalkHB22-1376 passed on the last day of the session. This bill was heavily influenced by our Fellows working on school climate. The legislation:
SB22-070 passed. The language in this bill was the result of work teachers did almost three years ago!
Fellows Veronica Bell and Peggy Wallace testify remotely on HB22-1376. News & UpdatesOn June 6th we will celebrate the 2021/2022 cohort of policy fellows. It has been a productive year especially when you consider the challenges of teaching during a pandemic. Can’t wait to celebrate and show the fellows off to funders and policymakers! We are currently in the process of recruitment and selection for our 2022/2023 cohort of policy fellows. We expect to continue the work of diversifying the teacher workforce and ensuring that all students have access to a high quality educator and the resources necessary for them to be successful.
