Salem Teachers Cabinet

The Salem Teachers Cabinet is a highly selective advisory body made up of outstanding teachers in public schools in Salem interested in having a voice in decisions that affect Salem schools. During the academic year, teachers meet in five monthly sessions that offer:

The opportunity to advise key leaders including Mayor Kim Driscoll, members of the Salem School Committee, members of the Community Advisory Board, and others;

  • Training in education policy, research, and best practices from across the nation;
  • The opportunity to research and advocate for policies that will better serve students and retain excellent teachers; and
  • A $1,000 stipend for your commitment. Dinner provided.

Who We Look For
Teach Plus seeks current classroom teachers (of all subjects, including but not limited to core content areas, foreign languages, fine arts, P.E., and special education) from public schools in Salem. We look for teachers of record who demonstrate evidence of:

  • A commitment to student achievement and school success
  • A track record of success teaching students in public schools in Salem (district and charter)
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Awareness of and/or desire to learn and impact education policy issues
