April Brunelle is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Commonwealth Teaching Policy Fellow. April is a 6th grade school counselor at TechBoston Academy in Dorchester, Massachusetts. She participated in the 2017-2018 Boston Teachers Union Inquiry Project, developing work in the student-led conference and co-led a Girls Who Code club after school at the middle school level. Previously, April was an 8th grade school counselor at TechBoston Academy, and a counselor for grades 6-8 at Morton Middle School in Fall River, MA. In Fall River, April was a field hockey coach, a track & field coach, and served on the district Code of Conduct Committee, in an effort to reduce suspensions and work towards the development of social emotional interventions. April graduated from Assumption College with a BA in Psychology and received an MEd in School Counseling from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
