Athena Lindsey is a 2020-21 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow. She is a 6th and 7th grade math teacher at South Delta Middle in Anguilla, Mississippi. Athena is a member of the school’s leadership team and is the New Teacher Mentor. She previously served as department chair and grade level leader. Throughout her 18-year career, Athena has taught STEM, AP Biology, Biology, Mathematics and GED courses. She served as the Career Academy Coach at Vicksburg High where she was able to serve as an advisor for teachers and students about various career opportunities, internships, and externships. Athena is a member of the Vicksburg-Warren MAE chapter, Vicksburg-Warren Alcorn State University Alumni Chapter, and South Delta School District PTO. Athena received her BS in Agronomy and MA in Elementary Education from Alcorn State University. She also received her Specialist in Educational Leadership from William Carey University.
