Marissa Castañón-Hernandez is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Texas Senior Policy Fellow and is the Theatre Director and Fine Arts Department Chair at the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders (ARS). Marissa served as the ARS representative for the Young Women’s Preparatory Network (YWPN) Campus Council and founded and chairs the ARS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. Marissa is an Austin ISD Professional Pathway for Teachers Social Emotional Learning Leadership graduate and a YWPN Educator of Excellence Award Recipient. She has presented professional development including Mindfulness & SEL through a Theatre Lens and Culturally Responsive Teaching in the Theatre Classroom. She graduated from Southwestern University with a BA in Theatre and Communication and received her MFA in Theatre at UT Austin.
