Shelley Putnam is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Mississippi Teaching Policy Fellow. Shelley teaches 10th, 11th and 12th grade physical science, chemistry, and AP Chemistry at Columbia High School in Columbia, Mississippi. She serves as a member of her school’s leadership team and as chairperson of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) team. Shelley is a National Board Candidate Support Provider for the World Class Teachers Program, and has previously served as chairperson of her school’s professional learning community and as a teacher consultant and leadership team member for the South Mississippi Writing Project. Shelley is a National Board Certified Teacher, a two time recipient of her district’s Teacher of the Year award, and an alumna of Northrop Grumman’s Weightless Flight of Discovery Zero-G Flight Program.  She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a BA in Biology and received her MEd in Mild and Moderate Disabilities and her SEd in Educational Leadership from William Carey University.
