Perla Andrade
Teaching Policy Fellow
Baseline Elementary

Perla Andrade is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Policy Fellow who is a school-based facilitator at Baseline Academy in Little Rock. Prior to becoming a facilitator, Perla taught 1st grade for four years. Perla is a part of the guiding coalition team at her school and a content leader for the literacy curriculum within her district. Perla was named Baseline Academy’s Teacher of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year. Perla earned her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Special Education at the University of Texas at San Antonio and a MEd in Educational Leadership at Arkansas Tech University.

Kayla Andrews is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Policy Fellow and is a 10th grade teacher and Debate Coach at Benton High School in Benton. Kayla received her BA in English with a minor in Spanish and Education from the University of Central Arkansas and her MSE in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.

Allison Bibens is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Policy Fellow who teaches all 2nd grade core subjects at Bale Elementary School in Little Rock. Allison is a member of the Guiding Coalition and the Little Rock Education Association. Prior to becoming a teacher, Allison tutored elementary to adult students in reading, math, ACT prep, GRE test prep, and more. Allison earned her BA in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Hendrix College and her MA in Teaching from the University of Central Arkansas.

Dominique Bonilla is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Policy Fellow who teaches debate, forensics, theatre, and critical reading at Springdale High School in Springdale. Dominique has previously taught English and served as the district ESOL coordinator and the Personnel Policy Committee president. Dominique was a fellow and teacher mentor in the Arkansas Teacher Corps program. She earned her BA in Theatre from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and an MEd in Reading Specialist and Dyslexia Therapy from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock.

Pamela Criss is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Senior Policy Fellow and a K-5 multi-site literacy instructional coach with the Little Rock School District. As a multi-site literacy coach, she helps improve literacy instruction and provides leadership for literacy across school communities. She previously served on the Principal’s Leadership Team, the school’s SBIT committee, and is a K-6th R.I.S.E. Trainer of Teachers with the Arkansas Department of Education. She earned her BSE in Early Childhood/Deaf Education from University of Arkansas at Little, MS in Rehab Counseling with an emphasis in deafness from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, MEd in Educational Leadership from Harding University and completed an ESOL Program of Study from Arkansas Tech University.

Kara Davis is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Senior Policy Fellow and is a literacy facilitator at Northside Elementary in Rogers. In her role, Kara focuses on helping teachers improve classroom instruction in literacy to include early literacy, reading, and writing. Kara is a National Board-Certified Teacher in the area of Reading-Language Arts and was named Arkansas Milken Educator in 2016. She earned her BA in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education, her MA in Educational Theory and Practice, and her administrative credentials from Arkansas State University.

Michael Flowers is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Policy Fellow and a 9th-12th grade Civics/Economics and World History Wilbur D. Mills University Studies High School in Little Rock. Michael has served as the Social Studies department head and currently serves as assistant varsity basketball coach, and head softball coach. He earned his BS in Social Studies Education from the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff and an MEd in Educational Leadership credential from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro.

Chase Fresneda is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Policy Fellow and a high school English teacher teaching 10th and 12th grade literature and AP literature at Nemo Vista in Center Ridge. Chase is also the high school Dean of Students and Alternative Learning Coordinator for the Nemo Vista School District. His focus is on helping students understand how literature is a tool that mirrors the complexities of life, in hopes that his students can face their challenges with a sense of purpose. Chase has served as his school’s Beta Club sponsor and Parent Involvement Coordinator. Chase has earned a BA in Political Science, MA in Teaching, and is currently working towards an EdS in Leadership from the University of Central Arkansas.

Iesha Green is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Policy Fellow and a 5th-grade multi-subject teacher at Brady Elementary in Little Rock. Iesha has previously served as a department chair and mentor teacher in her school. With a passion for equity in education, Iesha uses her cultural experiences and the Reality Pedagogy to connect with her students to deliver a culturally relevant education. Iesha's 5th-grade class was given the "Beating the Odds" award by the University of Arkansas’ Office of Education Policy for 2018-2019. Iesha earned her BA in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Arkansas, her MAT from the University of Central Arkansas, and her MEd in Educational Equity from the University of Arkansas.

Juanita Harris is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Arkansas Policy Fellow and a kindergarten core subject teacher at Harmony Leadership Academy in Texarkana. She is the Texarkana Arkansas Education Association (TAEA) Building Rep for her campus as well as the TAEA Membership Organizer for her district. Juanita received the Early Career Award from Kappa Delta Pi, the Bessie B. Moore Economics Educator Award, and was named Texarkana Arkansas School District’s Teacher of the Year (2017-18) She earned her BA in Early Childhood Education and her MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Southern Arkansas University.
