Jacqueline Johnson
Teaching Policy Fellow
Fuller Elementary School

Jacqueline Johnson is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Policy Fellow who has been teaching for the past 13 years. She currently teaches 3- to 5-year-old children at Fuller Elementary School in Chicago. Jacqueline completed a professional development tour in Reggio Emilia, Italy in 2007. She earned a BA in Early Childhood Education from Columbia College Chicago, and graduated from Erikson Institute with a MS in Early Childhood Education.

Patrick Kelly
Teaching Policy Fellow
Crystal Lake South High School

Patrick Kelly is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow who teaches High School Special Education at Crystal Lake South High School in Crystal Lake. He is a lead teacher in the SELF Program (Social Emotional Learning Foundations) where he works with students who have Behavioral and Learning Disabilities. Patrick coaches football and softball and serves as the Activities Director for his school. He graduated from Illinois State University with a BA in Special Education and earned his MEd in Education Policy and Organizational Leadership from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where his focus was looking at diversity and equity in education.

Bethea Lane
Teaching Policy Fellow
Plum Grove Junior High and Walter Sundling Junior High

Bethea Lane is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow who is a Junior High Instructional Coach in CCSD 15 in Palatine. Bethea has 19 years of classroom experience as a 6th grade teacher and throughout that timee has participated in committees and councils related to curriculum development, new teacher mentorship, leadership development, and equity, inclusion and diversity. Bethea is the IEA Region 42 Vice Chair, 2021 NEA delegate, and served as a union representative for the past five years. Bethea holds a BS in Education from DePauw University, an MA in Teaching & Leadership from St. Xavier University, and an ELL Endorsement from National Louis University.

LaDoris Lee
Teaching Policy Fellow

LaDoris Jena' Lee is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Policy Fellow and is a Lead Teacher in a 2-year-old classroom. LaDoris also serves as the facilitator for the site’s team building initiative where she works with the staff and administration to promote a quality work environment. LaDoris has previously served as Director, Assistant Director, Assistant Teacher, Nanny, and Lead Teacher in Infant and Toddler classrooms. She has held these positions in both center and home facilities. She graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a BS in Biology and currently attends the Erikson Institute where she is completing the MS program in Early Childhood Education.

Marcanthony Martinez

Marcanthony Martinez is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow who teaches 7th grade Social Studies at Irving Middle School in Maywood. Marcanthony serves as advisor to the National Junior Honor Society and as the building representative for his union. He previously taught English Language Arts at Newark Public Schools and has served as a curriculum writer in both English and Social Studies. Marc graduated from Ohio State University with a BA in English Pre-Education and received his MAT in Urban Education from the University of Chicago.

Stacie is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Policy Fellow and a teacher with the Preschool for All Program in Dixon. She is the president of her school district’s parent and teacher collaboration and is the union representative for her building. She is on the executive board for the Dixon Petunia Festival, an annual community building music festival. She graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in Early Childhood Education and graduated with a MEd in Early Childhood Education from American College of Education.

Erean Mei is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Senior Policy Fellow who teaches kindergarten at KIPP Academy Chicago Primary. She previously taught Head Start and other grade levels and has been a director of a childcare facility. Throughout her career, she has facilitated professional development and parent workshops specifically on behavior management, de-escalation and building social-emotional skills with young children. Erean has a BA from Northern Illinois University in Psychology, an MEd in Instructional Leadership: Early Childhood Education from University of Illinois at Chicago with a Type 4 Teaching certificate and a Early Childhood Special Education endorsement, and an English as a Second Language endorsement from Roosevelt University.

Briana Morales is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Senior Policy Fellow who teaches 11th and 12th grade English at Gordon Bush Alternative Center in East St. Louis, a pilot school for competency-based education (CBE) in Illinois. She is a member of her school’s data, building leadership, and competency-based education leadership teams as well as a student council sponsor. Briana is a recipient of the 2021 Early Career Educator of Color Leadership Award by the National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE). She graduated from St. Ambrose University with a BA in secondary English education and MEd in curriculum and instruction from American College of Education. Briana is currently pursuing her EdD in Diversity & Equity in Education at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Will Murzyn is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Policy Fellow who teaches EC Blended and EC Self-contained in Cicero. He previously taught  EC structured self-contained and served on the EC diagnostic team, placing at risk 3 years olds in PSFA programs. Will has also been a member of his campus’ technology and STEAM committees, coordinated career day, taught parents English in an after school program, as well as coached basketball and soccer. He graduated from Dominican University with a BA in Education Birth to Third Grade and completed his English Language Learners endorsement with IRC and National Louis.

Maria Onaindia is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow who teaches 11th grade Honors Pre-calculus and Introduction to Computer Science at Rauner College Prep in Chicago. At Rauner, Maria leads the Math Department, Women’s Empowerment Club, and serves on an equity committee focused on antiracist classroom practices and restorative justice. Maria is a member of the Noble Network Instructional Core Design Team and a content lead for the network. She previously was a founding teacher and teacher coach at Henderson Collegiate High School in Henderson, North Carolina. She graduated from Wellesley College with a BA in Economics and is currently pursuing her MAT in secondary mathematics from Relay Graduate School of Education.
