What is the Indianapolis Equity Change Agent Network?

Led by Teach Plus Indiana, the Indianapolis Equity Change Agent Network will bring together teacher leaders from across the city’s 11 school districts to create a powerful, equity-centered network focused on improving the culture and climate of schools and, ultimately, the educational experience of Indianapolis’s students. Funded by the Indianapolis African American Quality of Life Initiative, the program is designed to build Black and African American educators’ skills and grow their leadership to facilitate school-based change.

  • Eligible educators must have 2 years of experience.
  • Change Agents will collaborate with their school leaders to identify a problem of practice and lead a Change Project.
  • The project will run for 2 years – starting in December 2022 with a Kickoff and concluding in December 2024.
  • Change Agents receive monthly individual coaching from their Teach Plus Education Leadership Coach.
  • Change Agents will participate in monthly Cohort Meetings focused on professional growth, reflection, and dialogue with peer Change Agents.
  • Change Agents receive a $2000 stipend for their commitment and a $1000 implementation grant.

Why this Network?

Teachers, who are closest to students, are the greatest agents of change when it comes to reinventing schools post-pandemic and meeting the needs of their students now and in the future. In partnership with Indianapolis’ school districts, Teach Plus and the Indianapolis Equity Change Agent Network will support schools in the creation and implementation of solutions tailored to their community’s needs, specifically focusing on the growth and development of equity-minded teachers across our city as the lead change projects within their schools and districts.

How does it Work?

Teacher leaders in the Indianapolis Equity Change Agent Network, in collaboration with their principals and school-based peers, will identify the need for rigorous academic intervention, culturally responsive pedagogy, and racially affirming practices in their schools, and chart a path forward to solve problems of practice through continuous improvement. Selection Timeline

  • October 20th Virtual Info Session @ 5:00 PM – RSVP
  • October 24th Applications are Due
  • Early November – Candidate Interviews
  • Mid November – Notification of Final Decision


  • December 2022: Program Launch
  • 11: School Districts
  • 22: Teacher leaders in the network (2 per district)
  • $2,000: Teacher stipend / $1000 for project implementation
  • 2 years: of transformational impact through the program
