Jacobo Coronel is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent and middle school English Language Development (ELD) teacher at STEAM Academy @ Burke in Pico Rivera, California. He serves as English department chair and English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) coordinator, and mentors new teachers. Jacobo previously taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at a university in Mexico and served as an adjunct professor of teacher education at Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology. He was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship, served on his site’s Schools to Watch leadership team, and is a fellow with the National Newcomer Network. He earned a BA in English from California State University, Fullerton; MA in education from Loyola Marymount University; and EdD in educational leadership from the University of Southern California.
