Jurema Gorham is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and 12th grade Advanced Placement and honors government and politics teacher at Noble Street College Prep in Chicago. She serves as the dean of instruction for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and electives, and director of new teacher development. Jurema previously taught middle school science, 9th grade physical science, and 9th grade environmental science. She was selected as an inaugural Obama Leaders USA Fellow (2025), WGN-TV Nexstar Remarkable Woman Finalist (2020), and received the Far South Community Advisory Council Humanitarian Award (2020). Jurema is the founder and executive director of Burst Into Books. She earned a BA in elementary education from Chicago State University, MEd in differentiated instruction from Concordia University Chicago, MEd in educational leadership from Concordia University Chicago, and is a doctoral candidate in curriculum and instruction at Concordia University Chicago.
