Jessie Welcomer is a 2019-2020 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow. She is a 3rd grade teacher at Montalvin Manor K-8, a Title I public school in San Pablo, California. She has previously taught 5th grade. As a district Elementary Literacy Teacher Leader, Jessie develops and leads professional development for teachers and serves as a member of her site’s instructional leadership team. Jessie completed the New Leaders Emerging Leaders Fellowship. She was named a Teaching Excellence Award Winner for West Contra Costa Unified School District in 2018 and was a national nominee for the Sue Lehmann Teaching & Learning Fellowship in 2017. Jessie received her BA in Public Policy Analysis/Environmental Analysis from Pomona College and her MA in Urban Education: Policy and Administration from Loyola Marymount University.
