Sara Spachman is a 2018-19 Teach Plus Illinois Change Agent Teacher Leader. Sara teaches 9th grade English in Curie Metropolitan High School’s Middle Years International Baccalaureate program. She is a lead professional development facilitator for Curie’s Grading Team and leads all Curie teachers in developing learning progressions toward school-wide implementation of standards-based grading. Sara served as department chair for the English department for seven years. She is a member of the Chicago Public Schools Teacher Advisory Council. In 2004, she achieved National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification which she successfully renewed in 2013. She graduated from Augustana College with a BA in English and received her MAT in teaching English from University of Chicago.
