As Chief Operating Officer at Teach Plus, Andrea Eide Azevedo (she/her) sets the operational vision and model for Teach Plus to ensure that the right systems and structures are in place to support continued growth – while still fostering the flexibility and dynamism we know effective innovation requires. She oversees the functions of Operations, Finance, People, and the Field, ensuring that they are well coordinated, aligned, and effective in achieving the organization’s current and future programmatic goals and ambitions.
Serving as Teach Plus’ Chief of Staff and Chief People Officer from 2018-2023, Andrea provided strategic and confidential counsel to the President & CEO around the overarching strategy, governance, and impact of our work at Teach Plus, led Teach Plus’ People function, supported 12 Executive Directors, and managed large-scale, multi-faceted strategic initiatives across the organization. She has extensive experience building systems and processes that improve efficiency, impact, internal communication, and staff satisfaction. She is deeply committed to improving our organizational culture, advancing and deepening equity for our staff, teachers, and our communities, and advocating for the voice and perspective of all who contribute to Teach Plus’ success across the organization.
Prior to joining Teach Plus, Andrea served as the Director of Development at Horizons National, a nonprofit that advances educational equity by building long-term partnerships with students, families, communities, and schools to create experiences outside of school that inspire the joy of learning, where she led the implementation of a comprehensive accelerated growth strategy and expanded the organization’s fundraising efforts.
Andrea holds a B.A. from Boston College and a J.D. and an M.B.A. from Quinnipiac University. Outside of work, she loves to read as many books as possible, play strategic board games, and travel the country with her husband and their dog. She lives in Charleston, SC.
