Andrew Knips (he/him/his) is a Senior Education Leadership Coach at Teach Plus. He leads the Shared Leadership Project, which is a community of practice among leaders (including administrators and teacher leaders) for inquiry and collaborative learning focused on continuing to foster shared leadership and school-wide change efforts and building teacher efficacy and effectiveness. In collaboration with the National Program Team, Andrew supports curriculum development and improvement with a focus on ensuring an equity lens and strong research foundation. Previously he was an instructional coach, master teacher, and teacher leader. He has presented at conferences like AERA and NCTE, and has published articles in blogs like Edutopia and Education Post. He is also writing a book for school leaders on how to build an equitable data culture.
Andrew holds a BA in Political Science, International Studies, and Latin American Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a MSEd in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and a K-12 principal certification from Temple University.
Andrew spends his free time playing table tennis, running a regular nerdy board game night, and spending time with his partner and their two cats.
