Dr. David Fossett is the Teach Plus Nevada Executive Director. In this role David will lead Teach Plus Nevada’s statewide strategy, working alongside educators, community partners, and state leaders to advance educational equity and ensure teachers play an essential role in shaping the policies and decisions that impact students.
Prior to joining Teach Plus in 2026, David spent over a decade serving Nevada students across urban, rural, and charter school settings. He began his career as a Teach For America corps member and high school math teacher in the Clark County, NV School District before serving as an assistant principal in rural Nevada and later in public charters. As Principal of Somerset Academy Stephanie Campus, David led the Title I school to a perfect performance score, transforming it from a two-star rating to the top-ranked five-star school in Nevada, an achievement recognized with formal proclamations from both the Nevada State Senate and State Assembly.
Beyond site leadership, he taught education courses at UNLV, served on Cognia international accreditation teams, and advised on the Nevada State Superintendent’s Principal Advisory Cabinet. David holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern California, master’s degrees from UNLV and the University of South Dakota, and a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. David lives in Henderson, Nevada, with his wife, Stephanie, their four children, and maltipoo. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing guitar, and rock climbing.
