Joy Johnson is a Louisiana native but has had a passion for social change in the city of Philadelphia, which sparked in 2012 while she served as a housing specialist for Project H.O.M.E’s Winter Hub of Hope—a program for the homeless. She completed her first year of AmeriCorps Service in 2011, then spent a few years teaching high school English in Dallas, Texas, before taking a hiatus.
Joy received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas—Denton, and received her Master’s in Human Services from Liberty University in Virginia. Her current interests are education reform and reducing poverty in the city of Philadelphia and rural Louisiana.
