Juliana Urtubey is an elementary special education teacher and instructional strategist in Nevada, the 2021 Nevada Teacher of the Year, and the 2021 National Teacher of the Year. As a bilingual immigrant, Juliana knew she wanted to be a bilingual educator from a young age. She is the first Latinx teacher of the year in Nevada in more than 15 years. As part of her National Teacher of the Year platform, Juliana advocates for a “joyful and just education” for students of all identities and backgrounds.
