Teacher Leadership Coach

Prior to joining Teach Plus, Denise worked as an educator (Intermediate and Middle School) with the Chicago Public School District (CPS) for 10 years, where she also served as a teacher leader on the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT).  Denise was also a member of the 2017- 2018 Teach Plus Illinois Change Agent cohort and most recently served two years as a Senior Change Agent and Remote Learning PLC Lead.  

Denise’s experience entails assessing, establishing, and implementing high-leverage strategies aligned with teaching and learning which support the schools' Continuous Improvement Work Plan (CIWP) priority areas around instructional goals.  Additionally, she led the school-wide implementation of data driven instruction protocols.  Previously, she served as her school's network literacy teacher leader and is a former Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) resident teacher.  She also supports after school enrichment programs and has been the cheerleading coach, STEM program lead teacher, and volleyball coach. 

Denise has a diverse background with 10 years’ experience in the field of information technology as a system engineer and project management consultant to support the systems infrastructure of companies such as IBM, CNN, and Allstate.  She holds a BS in Computer Science, MBA in Change Management, Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), Master of Arts in Education, Ed.S (Administration and Supervision) and Principal Endorsement.
