Lena joins Teach Plus as the Executive Support and Special Projects Associate, where she will directly support Roberto Rodriguez and will collaborate with national and regional sites around special projects. Before coming to Teach Plus, Lena was the Program Coordinator at Teaching Lab, where she provided support to Teaching Lab’s executive staff. She has also held positions at the Aspen Institute and the Center for Applied Linguistics.
Her interest in education stems from her time teaching and tutoring English language learners in Washington, DC while she was pursuing her BA in linguistics at Georgetown University. Her studies at Georgetown culminated in a research investigation into elementary school teachers’ perceptions of their students’ use of nonstandard English dialects and the effect those perceptions have upon the teacher-student dynamic.
