INDIANAPOLIS, IN—Teach Plus, a national non-profit focused on empowering excellent teachers to lead improvements in policy and practice, has announced that Dr. Carlotta Cooprider has been named Executive Director of Teach Plus Indiana. In her new role, Dr. Cooprider will lead Teach Plus’ policy, practice, and teacher leadership work in the state, including the newly-launched Teach Plus Indiana Teaching Policy Fellowship which engages teachers from around Indiana in statewide policy initiatives. Dr. Cooprider was previously Teach Plus Indiana’s Director of Practice.
“Carlotta has served Indiana’s teachers and students for over two decades in a variety of roles including classroom teacher of elementary, middle, and high school students and principal at multiple charter schools. She is deeply passionate about supporting teachers as leaders to drive school and student success. We’re thrilled that she will use her extensive knowledge of education in Indiana to guide our work forward in the state,” said Dr. Celine Coggins, Teach Plus Founder and CEO.

I’m excited to grow this work statewide to strengthen policy impact and expand teacher leadership opportunities for educators and improve educational outcomes for all of our students,” said Dr. Cooprider.
Dr. Carlotta Cooprider joined Teach Plus in 2014 to launch the Teach Plus T3 Indianapolis program. She had previously served as Standards and Assessment Implementation Lead with the Indiana Department of Education; administrator with multiple Indianapolis charter schools; and program manager for Guardian Scholars, a post-secondary support and leadership development program for students at risk at Ball State University. Dr. Cooprider was named an Outstanding Educator Fellow with the Indiana Academy for Math, Science, and Humanities at Ball State University from 2002-2004. In 2015, she was appointed to the Indiana Governor’s Charter School Review Board and currently serves on the National Advisory Committee for CenterPoint Education. She started her career as a public school teacher in 1987. Dr. Cooprider earned a BS and MS in Education and an EdD in Adult, Higher, and Community Education from Ball State University.
