The Educator Pipeline: Building a Diverse and Sustainable Teacher Workforce

Highly qualified teachers are essential to student learning. Studies also consistently show that teachers of color matter for all students, and especially for students of color in whose lives they play a pivotal role. Yet, the representation gap between students and teachers of color remains wide. In our research, we ask teachers and students of color critical questions on what would help them feel supported and valued in our schools and classrooms and spotlight the sustainable solutions systems leaders must put in place to diversify the teacher pipeline and make a difference in the lives and outcomes of students.
