It is entirely possible to be a very effective teacher who only stays within the four walls of a classroom. However, when I stepped out of those walls, and out of my district, and learned about the larger picture of which my role was a part, I became more effective because I was more aware.
Learning from other teachers and advocates I have been able to amplify the voices of my students and their families in the interest of re-defining and transforming equity in education across the state.
