A National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts, Deanne has collaborated with the Nevada Regional Professional Development Programs to design and implement a statewide, collaborative leadership book study. Deanne has worked with students and families in northern Nevada and with teaching colleagues throughout the state for nearly three decades.
“Deanne is passionately committed to teaching and leading; sharing her personal, lived, and education experiences to encourage and empower her students. A highly respected Teach Plus Nevada Senior Policy Fellow and NBCT colleague, she leads as an effective and reflective practitioner, always seeking to bridge policy and practice in ways that are meaningful for educators and for our profession,” said Dr. Tonia Holmes-Sutton, Teach Plus Nevada Executive Director.
“Deanne is an exemplary teacher who is deeply committed to supporting her students in reaching their aspirations, while also speaking out on behalf of all students across Nevada. As a Teach Plus Policy Fellow, Deanne was a member of the Teach Plus Nevada advocacy group which partnered with the Teachers and Leaders Council to support legislation that positively impacted the Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF) during the 2019 legislative session.
