Student Advisors from across Texas:
You are invited to apply for the Teach Plus Texas Advisor Fellowship, a highly selective leadership opportunity for outstanding Texas advisors looking to deepen their knowledge of education policy and gain a voice in decisions that affect their students and their profession.
What do you do?
You receive training from Teach Plus in: understanding education policy as a lever for student success, community organizing, writing op-eds, speaking to the media, providing public testimony, and more. Teach Plus connects you with policy makers and opportunities to propose policy solutions, testify, write op-eds, and meet with decision-makers at the local and state levels.
What is included in the Advisor Fellowship?
- Selective 12-month commitment, starting in July 2026
- Monthly evening virtual sessions with learning modules, guest speakers, research and advocacy opportunities
- Connections with key stakeholders in Texas, including state legislators, policymakers, education policy organizations, and more
- $1,500 stipend for your commitment
How Does It Work?
The Teach Plus Texas Advisor Fellowship was created to bring together the educators most proximate to students and their needs, as they understand what is required to ensure that all students have access to high-quality advising. The TPTX Advisor Fellowship focuses exclusively on advocating for the passage of a high-quality student advising allotment in the 90th Texas Legislative Session in 2027. The Fellowship is open to advisors, teachers, college access providers, and school counselors across the state.
Qualifications
Apply to the advisor fellowship if you meet the following requirements:
- An advisor who currently supports students with both college- and career-ready pathways.
- At least two (2) years of advising experience by August 2026.
- Plan to remain an advisor from August 2026 – August 2027.
- Be available for an in-person kickoff event in Austin, July 15-17, 2026 (Hotel and transportation stipend provided)
Application Process
Application Deadline: Tuesday, June 30, 2026
Part 1- Written Application
The written application asks you to complete general demographic information and short essay responses. Applications are due June 30, 2026.
Part 2 – Selection
You will be notified if you have been selected to join the Texas Advisor Fellowship by July 9, 2026. If accepted, you will commit to attending the in-person kickoff scheduled for July 15th to 17th, 2026 and monthly sessions on a Wednesday evening throughout the fellowship.
