Valton Acree is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow who teaches honors world history, honors and regular U.S. history, and dual credit U.S. history at Yorktown Secondary School in Yorktown, Texas. Val leads the social studies department and serves as the high school campus’ University Interscholastic League Coordinator. He is also head cross country and girls’ track coach, as well as the faculty sponsor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Val has taught English language arts, social studies, and Spanish classes at the middle and high school levels. He was named the Area Veterans of Foreign Wars Teacher of the Year (2016-17 and 2022-23) and Education Service Center Region 3 Secondary Teacher of the Year (2023). Val has participated in the Texas Education Agency Teacher Leadership Fellowship (2023-2025). He earned a BA in English from Augusta State University and MA in history from Sam Houston State University.
