Maria Aguilera is a 2024-2025 California Policy fellow and 8th grade science teacher. She is also the Science Department Lead at Alliance College-Ready Middle Academy 8 in East Los Angeles, California. She focuses on building a productive & positive science department team culture in which team members grow, learn, collaborate, thrive, and feel supported in implementing the school-wide and/or content-area instructional strategy to improve scholar learning. Maria began her teaching career in Chino Hills, California, where she started as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructor. She later transitioned to the role of Adult Education Coordinator for Baldy View ROP. Over the years, Maria has gained experience teaching a wide range of grades, from 8th to 12th grade, in various subjects. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a Master’s in Education from the University of Southern California. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in K-12 Education at Grand Canyon University.
