Alex Parker

Alex Parker is a 2020-2021 Teach Plus Illinois Senior Policy Fellow. Alex is a 4th grade teacher at Cossitt Avenue Elementary School in La Grange, Illinois, where he is a member of the school’s social and emotional learning leadership team. He also serves as Cossitt’s project leader for The Nora Project, a nonprofit organization aimed at fostering friendships for students with disabilities. His research work with The Nora Project led to him being named the 2019 Yale University Teacher Action Research Prize Winner. As a Policy Fellow, Alex worked with other Fellows to advocate and reinstate Illinois’ mentoring program for teachers, and to develop an anti-bias and anti-racist toolkit for educators. Alex holds a BA in History and MEd in Elementary Education, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
