A Chicago Public School educator since 2003, Alicia Torres teaches 2nd grade at Mariano Azuela Elementary. In addition to being grade-level chair, Alicia serves on the language arts committee, awards recognition committee, and is her school’s union delegate. Alicia is a National Board Certified teacher in Literacy: Reading Language Arts/Early and Middle Childhood. She is a fellow with the Chicago Area Writing Project, and a Study Group Awardee of the Chicago Foundation for Education. Alicia developed her skills as a teacher leader through the study group experience as a Boundless Reader Awardee. Alicia graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a BA in Elementary Education.
