Allison Strumolo is a Teach Plus Rhode Island Teaching Policy Fellow. She is a 6th grade mathematics teacher and ELL coordinator at Founders Academy at Beacon Charter School for the Arts in Woonsocket. Her teaching career began as a cohort member of the New York City Teaching Fellows, an alternate route to the teaching certification program. Allison was a special education teacher in both inclusive and self-contained classrooms in the Bronx. After returning to Rhode Island, she taught special education and mathematics at Woonsocket Middle School working with students in grades 6-8 and has worked with the New Teacher Project in teacher development as a special education seminar leader and teacher effectiveness coach. Allison earned her BS from the University of Rhode Island, her MS from Mercy College, and her MA from Brown University.
