Meghan Amayo is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow. She is a 2nd grade teacher at West View Elementary in Pittsburgh, focusing on mentoring student teachers and collaborating with the English language arts taskforce to ensure research-based practices are rooted in the science of reading and curriculum. Meghan began her teaching career as a middle school science teacher, where she partnered with community and regional organizations, including Creek Connections and Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS), to provide authentic learning experiences for her students. She completed her MEd practicum at the Astronauts Memorial Foundation at Kennedy Space Center in 2012 and obtained National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist in 2017. She is the Elections Committee chairwoman for her local union and earned her AS from Community College of Allegheny County, BS from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and MEd from Duquesne University.
