Andrea Thomas is a 2020 Teach Plus New Mexico Teaching Policy Fellow. She is a teacher leader from Shiprock, New Mexico in the Four Corners Area of the Navajo Nation.Through her seven-year career she has been a looping teacher who guided two cohorts of students from third through fifth grade. She has been involved in her school’s leadership committees and will continue to serve in this capacity at Ojo Amarillo Elementary. As a member of the Navajo Nation Board of Education, and through her participation in several outreach programs with the New Mexico Department of Education and regular participation in local school board deliberations, she has coordinated the efforts of these education stakeholders. Andrea received her BA in Elementary Education from the University of New Mexico, where she is currently enrolled in the MBA Education Leadership program.
