Aima Arogundade is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow. Aima is a 3rd grade girls teacher leader and an after-school health education program director at Southwest Leadership Academy in Philadelphia. She focuses on improving the physical, mental, social and academic health and well-being of young African and African-American students through health education intervention sessions designed to improve self-efficacy and volition. Aima began her career as a health educator at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and Planned Parenthood. She began her teaching career as a substitute teacher in Philadelphia Charter schools teaching grades pre-k through 8 and has been a lead classroom teacher for the past three years. She earned her BS in public health from Temple University and an MS of public health in maternal and child health from George Washington University.
