Jose Arriaga is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow. Jose is a 5th grade Spanish dual language teacher, grade-level teacher leader, and FIRST robotics league instructor. He focuses on bilingual and bicultural education, and is working to include and expose more BIPOC students to STEM-related fields. Jose was awarded the “Pre-Teaching” award from Santa Clara University upon graduating. He was published in “Benchmark PD Essentials Text: A Conscious Classroom.” Jose has participated in research and worked closely with the MALLI Project from UC Santa Cruz to create more language inclusive math classrooms especially in dual language settings. He earned both his BA in liberal arts with a focus in pre-teaching, a bilingual teaching credential, and an MA in teaching from Santa Clara University.
