August Brill is a 6th grade special education teacher at Morrill Elementary in Chicago Public Schools. At Morrill, he co-created a service learning program that allows students to improve their community while navigating public transportation, and provides assistance through the “Home Bound” program to students unable to attend school because of health conditions. August entered the teaching profession in 2012 through the Chicago Teaching Fellows program. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in history and international studies and holds teaching certifications in ESL and bilingual education.
