Courtney Banks is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow and 8th grade reading and language arts teacher at Liberty-Eylau Middle School in Texarkana, Texas. She is a department chair and advocates for her students as a teacher leader. Courtney has served on her campus and district leadership teams, and has taught grades 4-8 and various subjects. She was named Liberty-Eylau School District’s Employee of the Month (2015) and Liberty-Eylau Middle School’s Teacher of the month (2024). Courtney is a member of the Texas State Teachers Association and the National Education Association, as well as an ambassador for the Teachers Support Teachers organization. She also served as a fellow in the Texas Education Agency’s Teacher Leadership Fellowship (2023-2025). Courtney earned her BA in educational studies from Western Governors University and is pursuing an MS in educational leadership at Western Governors University.
