Madeline Barnes is a 2023-24 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow. Madeline is currently a high school English teacher in Rio Grande City High School in Rio Grande City, Texas. Outside of her 11th grade classroom, she is also the faculty sponsor of two campus organizations: the Gender and Sexuality Student Alliance (GSSA) and the Creative Writing Club. Maddie is a Teach for America Rio Grande Valley alumna from which she was awarded the “Keep it Rio” teaching award for her dedication to community and education. She graduated from Wake Forest University with a BA in English and a BA in Spanish.
