Mercedes Beltran is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Illinois Affinity Group Facilitator, and high school Spanish language teacher and multilingual specialist at Barrington High School in Barrington, Illinois. She represents her school on the district equity team and served on her Building Equity Leadership Team. Mercedes previously taught middle school. She received her BA in Spanish language and literature for secondary education at Northern Illinois University, preK-12 certification to teach English language learners and bilingual education from National Louis University, MA in reading with a preK-12 reading specialist certification through Olivet Nazarene University, and is pursuing a doctorate in curriculum and Instruction leadership with an emphasis in equity and social inquiry at Northern Illinois University.
