Mary Bissell is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus New Mexico Policy Fellow and a first-year elementary math coach at Mission Achievement Success Charter School in Albuquerque, NM. She has spent the last decade teaching secondary math in Rio Rancho. Before that, Mary taught elementary in Hollywood, California, and middle and high school math in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mary is a NM Teacher Ambassador and has completed a multitude of advocacy work for veteran teachers, paid family medical leave, and affordable childcare. She obtained her teaching credential through Teach For America. Before joining the TFA Corps, Mary received her BS in aquatic zoology from the University of California-Santa Barbara with a minor in LGBTQ Studies. She is currently working on obtaining her Master’s degree in STEM Education from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
