Mary Bissell is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus New Mexico Senior Policy Fellow and middle and high school math teacher at Peñasco Independent Schools in Peñasco, New Mexico. She leads her district’s mathematics curriculum implementation. Mary previously served as an instructional coach, TNTP Effectiveness Coach, and educational program leader. She serves on the Professional Practices and Standards Council and the New Mexico Career and Technical Education Statewide Advisory Board. Mary earned a BS in aquatic zoology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and MS from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
