Sophia Black is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and a high school family & consumer sciences teacher at Oak Lawn Community High School in Oak Lawn, Illinois. She is an innovative educator leading the consumer education instructional team and passionately creates space for students to empower, embrace and empathize with each other as a co-sponsor for Spartan Sisterhood. Sophia is an Apple Teacher and winner of a Spartan PRIDE award. She has a BS in family & individual development from Northern Illinois University, a MEd in curriculum and instruction as well as a MEd in educational leadership from Olivet Nazarene University.
