Mikayla Bowen is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Michigan Policy Fellow and school social worker at Woodworth Middle School in Dearborn, Michigan. She leads the school’s Social Emotional Learning Committee. Previously, Mikayla taught high school social studies in Indiana and Southfield, Michigan, and served in the Peace Corps as an education volunteer in South Africa. She is a secondary representative on the union’s executive board. Mikayla obtained a BS in interdisciplinary social studies with secondary teaching certification in social studies, English language learning, and earth science from Michigan State University and an MSW from the University of Michigan, where she focused on social work at the community level and in school settings.
