Shontee Branton is a returning 2024-2025 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow and a 4th grade English language arts and reading teacher at Rufus Burleson Elementary in Dallas. She is a member of the Vertical Leadership Team and presents in weekly PLC and vertical team meetings. Previously, Shontee has served as an instructional coach and mentor teacher, where she developed hands-on teaching methods and guided lesson planning. She is a nationally certified STEM educator and has been recognized with the Distinguished Teacher Recognition Exemplary Teacher for the Dallas Independent School District and the Master Teacher designation from the Texas Education Agency. Featured on CNN and in TIME Magazine, Shontee has spoken on educational issues such as the impact of COVID-19 on teachers and low pay for teachers in Oklahoma. She holds a BS in early childhood and an MS in early childhood and educational leadership from the University of Central Oklahoma.
