Briana Morales is a 2021-2022 Teach Plus Illinois Senior Policy Fellow who teaches 11th and 12th grade English at Gordon Bush Alternative Center in East St. Louis, a pilot school for competency-based education (CBE) in Illinois. She is a member of her school’s data, building leadership, and competency-based education leadership teams as well as a student council sponsor. Briana is a recipient of the 2021 Early Career Educator of Color Leadership Award by the National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE). She graduated from St. Ambrose University with a BA in secondary English education and MEd in curriculum and instruction from American College of Education. Briana is currently pursuing her EdD in Diversity & Equity in Education at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
