Calia Brooks is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Illinois Senior Chicago Change Agent and is a 7th and 8th grade reading/writing teacher at Bouchet International Academy. She facilitates Family Literacy Night, which is used as a way to increase the love of literacy as well as engage the families in the learning environment. Outside the classroom, she is currently part of the ILT, focusing on improving student data in reading and literacy. She also heads her school’s committee related to increasing family and community engagement to enhance student achievement. She earned her BA in clinical psychology and BS in middle-grade education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her MA in clinical mental health education from Adler University.
