Sharon Buckhanan is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Mississippi Policy Fellow and early childhood education teacher at the Career Development Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She is a Donors Choose Ambassador and a Family, Career and Community Leaders of America advisor for her school’s student organization. Sharon was named Jackson Public School’s Teacher of the Year (2021-2022) and Career Development Center’s Teacher of the Month (February 2023). She is a member of the Mississippi Early Childhood Association and the Mississippi Association of Career and Technical Education. Sharon earned an AA in early childhood education from Coahoma Community College, a BS in early childhood education from Mississippi Valley State University, and an MS in early childhood education from Jackson State University.
