LaTonya Burnett is a 2024-2025 Harmony School Leader Advisory Cabinet Member. She is the Dean of Student Culture at Harmony School of Innovation in the Harmony Public School district in Houston, Texas. Latonya has more than 13 years teaching experience at the public and collegiate levels, having taught English language arts, math, Texas history/social studies, science, and health. She also has worked in special education (resource and life skills), taught in alternative academic and behavioral schools, participated in mental health and crisis training and certification, served on social-emotional (SEL) learning/character and other committees, written curriculum, and been an English language arts instructional coach. Latonya currently teaches psychology at Houston Community College as an adjunct professor, responsible for ensuring proper student behavior, maintaining a safe and orderly school environment, supporting the school’s learning culture, and leading and creating appropriate character and SEL education for students. She is a former Harmony Public Schools, back-to-back Teacher of the Year (2020-2021 and 2021-2022), as well as District Teacher of the Year (2021-2022). LaTonya holds a BS in Psychology from the University of Houston and an MA in Psychology from the University of Houston – Clearlake.
