Amaziah Burton is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Illinois Chicago Change Agent and K-2 special education teacher at Avalon Park Fine and Performing Arts School in Chicago. She is a special education teacher leader and after-school instructional coach. Previously, Amaziah was a member of the Professional Practices Committee, served on the Local School Council, participated as a sponsor for the Parent Advisory Committee, coached a competitive cheer team, and served as a teacher mentor for the Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) teacher preparatory program. She began her teaching career as an alumna of the AUSL Chicago Teacher Residency program and has been recognized by the Chicago Teachers Union for her dedication as a 2025 LEAD recipient. Amaziah has a BS in psychology and human services from Clayton State University, MBA from the University of Phoenix, and MEd in special education from DePaul University.
