Karina Calvillo is a 2022-2023 Indianapolis Equity Change Agent and 3rd grade teacher at Vision Academy Riverside in Indianapolis, Indiana. She focuses on teaching children to always have a growth mindset and learn the value of independence while also mentoring other teachers to reach the highest level of success with their students. Karina works to support classroom teachers and aspiring college students. She is also currently working with The Mind Trust on a curriculum development team striving to bring culturally relevant curriculum to Indianapolis. Karina was named 2022 Latinx Teacher of the Year by Teach Indy. She began her teaching career in Indianapolis as a 2020 Teach for America corps member. She earned her BHCL in Healthcare Leadership, Spanish, and Psychology from Valparaiso University, an MHA in Health Administration from Valparaiso University, and an MEd in Elementary Education from Relay Graduate School of Education.
