Joanne Capous is a kindergarten teacher at Coleman F. Brown Elementary School in Modesto, California. She works with the EL/Literacy Specialist to focus on instruction with students from Afghanistan as well as bridging their community with the schools. Joanne has worked closely with the school’s PTA for over 10 years to try and get more educational nights and learning opportunities for the EL population at her school. Joanne was nominated for Stanislaus County Teacher of the year (2018-2019). Joanne is very involved with her church organization and Greek culture. She has been a summer kids camp director, Greek dance instructor, President of the Greek dance group for several years as well as youth group leader. She earned her BA in Liberal Studies and a minor in Child Development at Sacramento State University, Sacramento, California. Joanne received her Multi-subject Teaching Credential at Stanislaus State University in Turlock, California.
